Robofest® is Lawrence Technological University’s international autonomous robotics program for students in 4th grade – 12th grade and college. Student teams design, construct and program their robots to act independently and compete for trophies in a variety of competitions. Robofest’s mission is to generate excitement among young people for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and Computer Science, develop creativity and problem-solving skills and prepare them to excel in higher education and technological careers.
The Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority (THEA) and its partners are debuting innovative connected vehicle technology in Tampa’s Downtown, and the benefits will change how we view roadway travel. A car or truck equipped with connected vehicle technology “talks” wirelessly to other vehicles, traffic signals, crosswalks and more. This wireless communication can help prevent crashes, keep traffic moving and even improve fuel efficiency. THEA has equipped 10 buses, 8 streetcars and the cars of 1000+ individual volunteers with this exciting new technology to make downtown Tampa a safer, smarter place to walk, ride and drive. https://youtu.be/wz4WvdGD1Bg
Emma Alaba, Director and Host Organizer for Robofest is seeking volunteers to help with this years Robofest, a festival of competitions and events with autonomous robots that encourages students to have fun while learning principles of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
NASA scientists and engineers will provide career insights and life stories; and there will also be a human resource specialist available to discuss NASA scholarships and internships.
SPC STEM Student, Lionel Plaisance earned the opportunity to present his research as a concurrent session at the National Community College Cybersecurity Summit (3CS) in Louisiana this summer. Lionel majors in Cybersecurity at SPC and is also an active member of the Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate Alliance (TB-B2B) The alliance was created to encourage minority students in the Tampa Bay Area to successfully transfer into and graduate with bachelor’s degrees in STEM majors. The program is grant funded by the Nation Science Foundation (NSF) as part of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP). Professor Laura Malave, Academic Chair [...]
On July 12, the Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate Program (TB-B2B) and SPC’s PITCH program visited Tech Data, one of the world’s largest technology distributors.
